Sunset and Key Deer Fawn

The fawn is taking advantage of the recent rain to get a drink of fresh water, a rare treat.

This baby is less than a month old. Although it is not uncommon to see fawns with spots all year, most fawns are born in the spring. Ones like this are from smaller younger bucks who did not get a chance during the rut to breed because of the competetion in the herd from larger older bucks.
