I was following a herd of deer when this boat came into view. I became chilled in the warm air and quietly gazed around, wondering if there were eyes watching me as there often are. How desperate can it be in Cuba or wherever this makeshift boat came from to risk lives to get here? There was a motor in this homemade death trap and again I am amazed and astonished at the will of a man seeking freedom, something I have taken for granted most of my life.
