Pelican Haven

IMG_6987At sunrise this morning there were at least ONE HUNDRED pelicans harvesting breakfast in a long line in the shallow waters of the warm Atlantic Ocean.  I had to be super quiet as in the past the repositioning of my camera could be enough to spook  them into a mass exodus of flutter and feather.  The last thing I want to do is disturb any of the wildlife I encounter.  I was lounging back on the waters’ edge,  on a bed of soft moist seagrass, watching the rays rise and  a pair of does grazing,  blending in rather nicely,  when I noticed the birds floating around the edge of the enclave coming towards me.  I saw diving head first, with speed, into the water and collective gathering behavior.  Lots of  clacking, splashing  and the sound of a camera click clicking away, as if it had a mind of its own and  was directing me in its excitement and enthusiasm.
